Match Reports

Matches cancelled this weekend

The inclement weather has unfortunately caused ALL this weekend's fixtures (5th May) for the club to be cancelled.

The plan is still to arrive at the pavilion (if not raining) at midday and erect the nets and try to get a T20 going using the artifical.

The Bombers break their duck in a thriller against IPAccess

Just a quick note to say thanks to IPAccess for their help in organising the friendly 40/40 match against the Club Captain's XI last Sunday.

Match Summary:

IPAccess skipper Ukesh won the toss and elected to bat and with the aid of some swashbuckling partnerships and a rain-break they managed to push the total to a respectable 204 before being all out on the last ball of the innings. Both Russell and Little Sharon Cooke bowled with pace and accuracy while the Cambourne fielders did an excellent job of chasing down the lusty blows offered up by the IPA batsmen.

3s Perfect Storm ..

Episode 27 "Ukesh Drives With A Supervisor (this time)".

.. The IPA School of Motoring set off once more in convoy to this weeks fun and games at Weston Colville. With the 3s resident learner at the wheel Ukesh was quick to note that CT fails to use his indicators properly. Commenting on this, Ukesh claimed "CT is a seasoned driver yet he does not know what hes doing" .. This message was swiftly relayed to which Ukesh received 'the finger' a sign that he has become accustomed to this season.

Farmery Keeps Winning Run Going

An excellent allround performance from Brian Farmery helped Cambourne 2nd XI continue their winning run of games. With selection headaches across all teams this week stand in captain Mark Tandy decided to bowl first on a damp pitch. Pendlebury opened the bolwing and took a wicket with his sixth ball when the Barley opener chased a wide ball and hit it straight in the air and was caught in the covers by Tandy.

Cundell revels in winning run

Cambourne 2nd XI continue their winning run with a crushing 175 run victory over second place Barley. Preparations for the game could not be described as ideal with Turner's car blowing up requiring the Healy's to go pick him up. Eventually Cambourne arrived and were put into bat by Barley on a damp looking pitch.

Allround team effort keeps the winning run going

On a warm but damp Saturday afternoon Cambourne's 2nd XI set off for an away game at the lovely ground of Barrington. Not only were Cambourne represented by the 11 chosen players but also a strong away support of Nick Green's Dad and Dad of the year nominee Duncan Shearwood and Cameron Shearwood.

After captain Healy had made friends with the local OAP's it was the turn for the toss which Cambourne lost and Barrington inserted Cambourne on a green pitch which pitch scout Cundell had advised would "move about a bit".

Many Hands make light work of Barrington

Cambourne 2nd XI bounced back with classy win against Barrington this Saturday. As the summer finally arrived Cambourne batted first and set the familiar tone from the outset. Hankins and L.Healy again looking a useful combo at the top of the order.  With a distinct mixture of youth and experience, the Barrington attack looked a bit one paced and ‘Chunky and Duncy’ wasted little time in tucking in to anything loose.  With 38 on the board Hankins departed and the inevitable middle order frailties loomed. When L.

2nds sterilised by Milton.

Cambourne CC's middle men are rapidly becoming the forgotten men and the performance at home to Milton this Saturday was certainly one to forget. Facing one of only a few teams who weren't playing DIv 3 last year and with fond memories of thrashing Milton last season spirits were high despite losing the toss and being inserted on another green top. As is now customary the home side got off to a flier with L.Healy and Hankins cashing in on their current purple patch.

3s turn N C I into W I N ..

Episode 22 "Santosh Plays A Defensive Shot" ..

So, okay .. unbeaten in over 2 months, for it was the bottom team to play the 3s at the top ….

This one had troubled both myself, CT and DW .. With the only match NCI have won this season being by virtue of a default, would they produce the goodies from the bag and stage a coup ....
