3s - All's Well That Ends Well.
Final Episode #28 "This Was Their Finest Hour".
.. And so back to the very beginning, the match report for Episode 1 - 3s Vs Waterbeach in 2010 (remember that game ?) .. It started something like this …………………
'We shall fight them on the beaches' - Thirds seal a tense win over Waterbeach. In an epic start to the season, new Captain Jonny Wilkinson led the thirds to victory - sealed with a run-out on the last ball of the game. Perhaps it was his pre-match pep-talk, paraphrasing Winston Churchill's famous speech of 1940, that inspired the team to perform with military precision in the field.
…. Arguably this set the spirit for the 3s and this same spirit has not been diminished over the past 2 years, its been the secret of our success really.
The 2011 season has seen some great games in which the 3s have never failed to entertain and thrill. Every single game we have played has had something amazing going on that was 'typically 3s' .. For me our home win against Saffron Walden as I said at the time was genius, sheer genius .. But then again our 1 run home win against Weston Colville was pretty incredible too.
Upon hearing that the 3s were again Division Champions, the CCA Promotions committee caught up with Captain Jonny who commented "Its heartening to know that so many people have contributed to the 3s success this season, from the awesome IPA guys to guest appearances by Peter Lee, Duncan Shearwood and Duncan Hankins to name but a few, the list goes on. They should all feel proud that they have helped the 3s gain their second back to back Champions shield".
The pavillion bears the ultimate witness to the teams successes in the shield which was awarded to us as Divison Champions in 2010, soon to be joined by our second one as Division Champions 2011. Another development is that the 3s have overtaken the 2s with the 3s promoted next season to Division 3. These are all Cambourne Cricket Club firsts and the 3s have done it.
I said at the start of this season that It would be my last and I have resigned as Captain. I have had two years of being Captain to the most wonderful of teams, this has given me memories that I shall cherish forever. The spirit of the 3s is something special, something very special indeed.
Thank-you, Jonny.
(Ukesh, please remember, dont sweep).

Congratulations to the 3rds!
Congratulations to the 3rds! Superb achievement.
And well done, Jonny, skippering a side to 2 successive promotions is no mean feat.
And great news for continued progress of the club!
However, it would have been even better for the club if the 2nds had also got their promotion.
Three words, awesome, awesome
Three words, awesome, awesome and awesome. Well done boys!
Jonny, not many captains get to resign undefeated, your name will go down in legend.
Proud to be a part of it last year, wish I could have been available this year (not that you needed me)
